Pharmaceutics

Department of Pharmaceutics

Description

Pharmaceutics is an academic discipline that primarily concentrates on the meticulous and quantitative aspects of drug delivery. It encompasses a broad spectrum of endeavors ranging from the design, manufacture, testing, and eventual evaluation of drugs in combination with the appropriate adjuncts. The department expeditiously harbors several commodious laboratories, a machine room with state-of-the-art instruments at their disposal, which includes a Rotary tablet punching machine, eight-basket Dissolution Apparatus, Disintegration apparatus, Stability chamber, BOD Incubator, Brookfield Viscometer, Sonicator, Rotary Flask Evaporator among other cutting-edge technologies.

The department exhibits a proclivity for conducting in-depth pre-formulation studies, drug-excipient compatibility evaluations, and stability programs with a focus on evolving novel dosage forms. Furthermore, the laboratory also comprises of an integrated biotechnology section, dedicated to the study of enzyme technology, fermentation, bioassay, and microbial auditing, among other investigational undertakings.

One of the department's principal research goals is to pioneer the development of advanced drug delivery systems, such as microspheres, mucoadhesives, transdermal patches, nanoparticles, liposomes, target-specific drug delivery systems, gastro retentive systems, and chronomodulated drug delivery system. Furthermore, the department of Pharmaceutics strives to establish a vanguard position in innovative drug delivery research to provide more efficient and effective therapeutic interventions.
